Terms of Service
Last updated 4 May 2026 · Effective on first use of the service.
1. Who we are
LetLedger ("the service", "we", "us") is operated by [ENTITY NAME], a business based in the United Kingdom (registered address: [REGISTERED ADDRESS]). You can reach us at hello@letledger.uk.
2. What LetLedger is — and isn't
LetLedger lets a UK landlord upload a bank statement (CSV), see suggested categorisations against the SA105 boxes, and download a year-end summary in PDF form.
LetLedger is software, not a person. It is not a regulated tax adviser, accountant, bookkeeper, solicitor, financial adviser, or HMRC agent. Nothing produced by the service is professional advice. If you need advice, instruct a qualified professional.
3. Your responsibility
- You are the filer of record for your tax return. We do not file anything for you.
- You must review every transaction categorisation before relying on it. The service flags low-confidence and edge-case items for review precisely because the AI can get them wrong.
- You must verify the SA105 summary against your own records and HMRC guidance before submission.
- You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of any data you upload, and for keeping the underlying records HMRC requires (typically for at least the period required by HMRC's self-assessment rules).
4. AI and accuracy
LetLedger uses one or more large language models ("AI") to suggest a category for each transaction. AI output is probabilistic, not deterministic. It can:
- misclassify transactions (revenue vs capital, allowable vs personal, etc.);
- misread descriptions or amounts;
- be confidently wrong;
- change behaviour over time as we change models or prompts.
The category, confidence and reason shown for each transaction are indicative only. Treat them as a starting point for your own review.
5. Beta service and availability
LetLedger is currently provided free of charge during a beta period. We do not guarantee any specific level of availability, performance, accuracy, retention, or feature continuity. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice.
6. Acceptable use
By using the service you agree to our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach it.
7. Your account
You sign in via a magic link sent to your email. Keep that email account secure. You are responsible for activity that happens through your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
8. Your data
Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy. In particular: transaction descriptions and amounts are sent to a third-party AI provider so they can be categorised. Do not upload data you are not allowed to share with such a provider.
9. Liability — please read carefully
- any tax assessment, penalty, interest, surcharge or HMRC enquiry;
- any incorrect categorisation made by the AI or the service;
- any reliance you place on a SA105 summary, PDF, or category suggestion;
- any loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, opportunity, or anticipated savings;
- any loss or corruption of data;
- any indirect, special, or consequential loss of any kind.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud), our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you have actually paid us in that period and (b) £100. During the free beta, paid fees are £0.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — in particular, your rights as a consumer under UK law are not affected.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any third-party claim arising from (a) your use of the service in breach of these Terms or applicable law, (b) data you upload that you were not entitled to share, or (c) tax, accounting, or other professional matters that are your own responsibility.
11. Changes
We may change these Terms. Material changes take effect 14 days after we post the updated version at this URL. Continued use after that means you accept the changes. If you don't accept them, stop using the service.
12. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or if we discontinue the service. We may delete your account data after termination as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England & Wales, except that consumers may bring proceedings in their country of residence as required by local law.
